About Me

Who is she??

Marlou lives and works in Domburg, the Netherlands.

One day in 2018, I picked up a brush and started painting.
I had never done that before - and I found it immensely enjoyable.
The freedom. The expression. The play.
Letting go of every belief that stood in the way.
From “You can't do that” to “Don't be so dramatic” , and everything in between.

Turns out I could do it - and I enjoyed it.
I called it The Art of Allowance .
Allowing. Allowing myself.
Cheap paint. Cheap canvas. P L A Y .

From the belief “I can't draw” , I enrolled at the Milan Art Institute and learned how to draw.
The online course started in January 2020.
Three months later, the world shut down.
And for me, a new world opened up.

Since then, I've painted a lot - and I still do.
Trying new things. Exploring.
Sometimes out of curiosity. Sometimes because of resistance.

My living room is now full:
paint, canvases, ideas, work, family, friends
The space is becoming too small for everything that arises.
Or maybe I'm becoming too big.
It's just a matter of perspective.

To be continued…
